Schwarzenegger Gives Finger To New Mexico Tesla Plant

by Sunshine on July 24, 2008

See here. Tesla Motorcars, makers of my new dream car, planned on building a plant in New Mexico (state plant: yucca) to make their next line of vehicles, a $60k sports sedan. The Governator, upon hearing the news, massively laid the smack down, bequeathing a tax exemption on Tesla to keep the plant in Cali. Money quote:

“To see this company build a plant in New Mexico drove me absolutely insane. My administration … does not like to lose.”

Current Tesla Roadsters are based on the Lotus Elise platform. The bodies are assembled in Britain, shipped to California, where the rest of the car is assembled at the Tesla shop in San Carlos.

It’s worth noting that Gov. Arnold is a soon-to-be Tesla owner, having already paid the deposit.

(Arnold to New Mexico: F*ck you, *sshole!)
